Class of 2027 Students and Families,
It’s time to start planning your senior photos!
Seniors have two options for their yearbook portrait and graduation banner:
Option 1: Submit a custom senior portrait.
You may choose any photographer you would like for your senior portraits. Talk with friends and family, look at photographers’ work and choose someone who is a good fit for you and your family. Custom senior portraits must meet the requirements below and be submitted by Dec. 31, 2026.
Option 2: Have your photo taken at school.
If you do not plan to submit a custom senior portrait, you must be photographed on school picture day and/or retake day. This photograph will be used for both the yearbook and your graduation banner.
If you are not photographed at school and do not submit an acceptable custom senior portrait by the deadline, you will not have a senior portrait in the yearbook or receive a graduation banner.
Custom Senior Portrait Requirements
Regardless of which photographer you choose, the photo submitted for the yearbook and senior banner must meet the following requirements.

Your senior portrait must be emailed to Mr. Coll at bcoll@jagschools.org by Dec. 31.
Choosing Your Photo
Choose a closer portrait.
Yearbook photos are relatively small, so full-body and distant scenic photographs do not reproduce particularly well. Ask your photographer to take a few head-and-shoulders or similarly close portraits specifically for use in the yearbook and on your senior banner.
Save the wider, scenic shots for prints and social media.
Choose a vertical photo.
Your submitted photograph should be taken and cropped vertically in a 2:3 aspect ratio. Horizontal photos may look great on their own, but they require significant cropping to fit the yearbook layout.
Please also choose a photograph where you are positioned as close to the center of the frame as possible.
Follow the school dress code.
The yearbook is a school publication, so the school dress code applies to submitted senior portraits. If you could not wear it to school, it should not be worn in your yearbook portrait.
Most photographers allow wardrobe changes during a senior session, so plan ahead and make sure you have at least one yearbook-appropriate option.
Send the Original, High-Resolution Photo
Please send the original, high-resolution image provided by your photographer.
Do not download or screenshot your senior photo from Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat or another social media platform. These services significantly compress photographs, resulting in images that may look fine on a phone but reproduce poorly in print.
Your senior portrait is also used to produce your 2-foot-by-3-foot graduation banner, so image quality matters. When in doubt, send the largest, highest-quality version your photographer can provide.
What Is Not Permitted
Senior portraits submitted for publication may not include:
- Weapons, firearms or explosives.
- Tobacco, vaping, alcohol, drugs or related paraphernalia.
- Writing, photographer watermarks or signatures on the photograph.
- Visible political slogans, campaign logos or political apparel.
Technical Requirements
Please provide these specifications to your photographer:
- Orientation: Vertical
- Aspect ratio: 2:3
- Minimum image size: Equivalent to 8 inches by 12 inches at 240 dpi
- Preferred resolution: 300 dpi or higher
- File format: JPG or PNG
- Cropping: Subject should be relatively close and centered in the frame
- Submission: Original, high-resolution digital file
Because the photograph is also enlarged for your graduation banner, larger original files are preferred. Do not resize or compress the photograph before submitting it.
How to Submit Your Photo
Email your senior portrait to bcoll@jagschools.org by Dec. 31, 2026.
Your email subject line must be:
2027 Senior Photo - [Your Full Name]
For example:
2027 Senior Photo - Jane Smith
We use the subject line to find, organize and track more than 100 senior photographs in our inbox. Please use the required format — do not make us go on a scavenger hunt to find your senior photo.
Please attach the JPG or PNG file directly to the email.
Printed photographs and photographs submitted on CD will not be accepted.
If your photographer is submitting the photograph on your behalf, please make sure they know the required subject line and submission deadline.
