Go G-Men!

On May 7th, the 7th grade class from James A. Garfield Middle School had the exciting opportunity to visit the Akron Zoo. Students were split into small groups and participated in an educational scavenger hunt, connecting their science lessons to real-world experiences. They had the chance to preview the zoo's new Dinosaur exhibit, sparking curiosity about prehistoric creatures alongside their current animal counterparts.

Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to observe a variety of animals, including grizzly bears, condors, wolves, bald eagles, gibbons, komodo dragons, sea otters, penguins, red pandas, tigers, and tortoises. The students also had a unique experience with the Otter Slide, which goes directly through the otter exhibit, providing a thrilling and close-up view of the playful creatures in action.

In addition to the educational activities, students enjoyed carousel rides, goat feedings, and a picnic lunch, before hitting the gift shop to bring home a souvenir. A big thank you goes to the 7th grade team for organizing this memorable day and to the Middle School MVP Organization for generously covering the cost of the trip, making it a cost-free experience for all students. It was a great time to be a G-Man!
