Go G-Men!

James A. Garfield Middle School proudly hosted its annual Awards Night on Tuesday, May 20th, in The Iva Walker Auditorium. The evening was a celebration of academic achievement, student character, artistic talent, athletic excellence, and our Core Values that define what it means to be a G-Man. Over 60 students were recognized on stage for a wide variety of accomplishments throughout the 2024–2025 school year.

Awards presented included Academic Excellence, Outstanding Citizenship, Perfect Attendance, 4.0 Honor Roll, G-Men of the Month, Musical and Performing Arts Director's Awards, JAGcoin Top Earners, Most Improved Students, and the prestigious Student of the Year and Core Values Awards for both 7th and 8th grades. Each recipient was met with warm applause as teachers gave heartfelt speeches highlighting the students’ growth, dedication, and impact on the school community.

Among the major honors, Haley Masters was named 7th Grade G-Man of the Year, and Connor Palmer earned the title for 8th Grade G-Man of the Year. The JAG Core Values Awards, recognizing students who exemplify responsibility, respect, integrity, and kindness, were awarded to Emily Weinrich (7th Grade) and Ellie Delvaux (8th Grade). The Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Awards went to Emily Penney and Caleb Whelchel, both standout athletes in cross country and track.

A special highlight of the evening was the Staff G-Man of the Year Award, voted on by students and presented by Student Council President Kylee Washington. This year’s recipient, Mrs. Morgan, received a standing ovation as she accepted the award during her final year at Garfield—an inspiring close to an exceptional teaching career.

The evening concluded with photo opportunities and a cake and punch reception in the Commons, giving families and staff a chance to celebrate together. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all who helped organize this meaningful event and to everyone who packed The Iva to show their support.
