JAG COVID-19 Update - Portage Returns to Red Status

I am happy to report once again some positive news for the JAG family.  Just moments ago the Governor shared county data and reported that Portage County has moved back to Red status.  In our consultation with the Portage County Health Department  we learned that we actually met this threshold last week as well, but to be removed from the Purple status a county must maintain that positive trend for two consecutive weeks, which we have done.

I want to share with you that as of today, we will plan on a return to school with kids in our hybrid mode on January 4 unless our local data and Portage County data change over the coming two weeks and we get a different recommendation from the Portage County Health Department.

I would also like to announce a slow return to athletic practices beginning next week now that our indicators have returned to a safe level to have kids and coaches back in our buildings. Mr. Pfleger will communicate practice restrictions and protocols with coaches tomorrow and they will communicate these to their players and parents. While we will continue to monitor our data and communicate with the Portage County Health Department, we do anticipate competition to begin for all teams the week of January 4th.

As we have done the entire year, we will make each decision with the consultation of the Portage County Health Department and do so with the safety of our students and staff as our primary concern.

It is vitally important to do all that you can to continue to be vigilant.  Continue to exercise caution with the virus by wearing a mask, keeping 6’ distance, washing your hands and limiting your interactions with others to limit the spread in our community. Your commitment to these things will ensure a safer return for our students and staff in January.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly.

On behalf of all the JAG family I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas!  Have a great rest of your week, and Go G-Men!
